Tolt and Shopify
Does Tolt work with Shopify apps?
Yes. Tolt connects to your Shopify Partner account and reads your app’s installs and charges, so you can run an affiliate program for any app you sell on the Shopify App Store. If you also bill outside Shopify, Tolt works with Stripe, Paddle and Chargebee too.

How do affiliate referrals work for a Shopify app?
An affiliate shares their link to your app. When a store installs your app through it, Tolt credits that affiliate with the store, and every charge Shopify bills the store from then on becomes their commission, as your commission rules set it.
Which Shopify charges earn commission?
Subscription charges, usage charges and one-time charges, as Shopify reports them in your Partner account. Refunds and downgrades come through as adjustments, and Tolt takes the commission back.
What happens if a store uninstalls or gets a refund?
When a store uninstalls your app or cancels its subscription, we stop calculating commissions for its affiliate. And on refunds, we deduct the commission from the affiliate.

How long does it take to set up?
About 15 minutes: create a Partner API client, connect it to Tolt and add the tracking script to your site. You can always reach us on live chat, and we can connect Shopify Partners together.

Which permissions does Tolt need?
A Partner API client with View financials, for your app’s transactions, and Manage apps, for its installs, uninstalls and charges. Only your Partner organization’s owner can create one, in the Partners Dashboard under Settings.
Do I need to change my app’s billing?
No. Shopify keeps billing your merchants through its Billing API as it does today, and Tolt reads the charges from your Partner account.
Can I track stores before they pay?
Yes. A store that installs your app through an affiliate’s link joins that affiliate’s customers on its trial, and turns active once Shopify starts billing it.

Is there a free trial?
Yes, a 14-day free trial, so you have enough time to see if affiliate marketing will work for your startup. Plus, we don’t require a credit card for the trial.
